Equity Markets: Uncovering Opportunity in Turmoil

The first quarter of 2018 was dominated by a resurgence in equity market volatility around the world. After posting strong, broad based gains in the month of January, equity markets were dominated by steep declines in February and March. While the performance was unsettling — and at times the selling indiscriminate — our global investment team remained focused on consistently executing its investment philosophy and exploiting opportunities created by the increase in market volatility.

In this quarter’s outlook video, I discuss two factors that contributed to the rise in market volatility, and why we believe equity market returns can continue to be positive.
